    Don’t let tired get you!

“Jacob’s well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well. It was about the sixth hour.”

    (John 4:6 ESVi)

Do you ever get tired? Tired of fighting? Tired of all the chaos? Weary to the bones? Jesus did. This verse in John was a breath of fresh air for me. You see, some days, I need to tell myself - that’s it’s okay to feel tired and weary.  It’s a part of life! We have this weird idea that we’re not supposed to get tired on this journey of faith. But! Jesus got weary. Jesus got tired. And if Jesus got tired..

Getting tired and weary is not what the issue is, though. The question is, what do I do when I get tired? That’s what trips me up. I get weary in the fighting, tired in the storms, and what do I do? Do I sit down and rest with Him beside Jacobs well, or do I give in? Give in to the temptation. Give in to the enemy. Give in and just quit fighting. My friend, let me tell you a secret: What you choose to do when your tired, is what will win or lose the battle. Don’t let tired get you! Instead, rest with Him. Rest in His goodness. Take a long satisfying drink of water, the water of His word. He refreshes. He renews you. Once again you can soar on wings as eagles. You can fight another day!

Remember this for when you next grow weary: it’s okay to go and rest. To take a step away from it all. Close your eyes. Remember His faithfulness. Rest in His presence. Breathe into your soul strength for tomorrow. Refuse to let tired get you!
