    God doesn’t change His mind!

    God doesn’t change His mind!

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or as he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?   Numbers 23:19 ESV

If we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.    2 Timothy 2:13

“Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes].”

    ‭‭James‬ ‭1:17‬ ‭AMP‬‬

One thing that I have grown to love about God?  He doesn’t change His mind. In a world where everybody can be trusted to change their minds, this truth is increasingly more precious to me. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, the writer of Hebrews tells us. If God has said a Word, you can trust in that Word. You can take it to the bank. There’s no failure in it. None.

God has said, I love you with an everlasting love. Did you hear that? Everlasting. It’s true. Now you might not feel worthy of that love, or you might not feel loved. Doesn’t matter. Get your feelings in line with what God has said, for He can not lie. Your feelings on the other hand..well, if they’re like mine, they are ever changing. God loves you. He said it. And He’s not changing His mind.

God has said, I am with you even to the end of the age, I will never leave or forsake you. When God says He’ll never leave you, He actually means He’ll never leave you.  For those in Christ Jesus this is a new covenant promise! You might say, But what about when I sin? Guess what?  He’ll never leave you...still applies. He’s the voice inside reminding you of Him and making you aware of wrong choices. He’s the One prodding you to repent. He’s the deep knowing in your heart, that uncomfortable feeling when you go astray.

Let us be aware, though, for being persistent in sin hardens our heart so that we can’t hear Him, and that is why we feel He’s forsaken us. Sin has a way of blinding our eyes to the truth. The bad thing about sin: it turns our face away from God and that is when we lose sight of His presence. Sin breaks our ability to hold on to that precious connection to the eternal. It’s up to us to make God-choices or not, and these choices affect our relationship with Him. Still the truth remains. He doesn’t change His mind about you. He loves you and He’ll never leave you. You can count on Him being there, especially when you go astray....He’s the hand reaching out to pull you from the mire and muck.

We all face uncertainties. We all have to deal with a world that casts doubts and shoves fear at us. There is rarely a day where there isn’t a jumble of opinions thrown our way. Sometimes it’s hard discerning between what is truth and what is a lie. In the times we are in right now, with this pandemic, the muddle of it all stupefies the mind. I’m honestly overjoyed that there is one truth I can run to and be sure of: God is for me and He will never leave me. I praise God that He is bigger than all the worlds problems.

I read a verse lately in Isaiah 40 that had me stop still in amazement. Verse 12: “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, And marked off the heavens with a span [of the hand], And calculated the dust of the earth with a measure, And weighed the mountains in a balance And the hills in a pair of scales?”     Isaiah‬ ‭40:12‬ ‭AMP‬‬

He marked of the heavens with a span of the hand. Do you know what a span is? It’s the space between your thumb and little finger. God measured the heavens, the vast universe to which no telescope is powerful enough to see the end, God measured with a span of His hand! Ok, if that doesn’t get to you, I don’t know what will. Can you imagine how BIG God is?! When life overwhelms me, when the world just keeps piling on more problems, I think it’s probably a good idea to run to this truth: He measured the waters(of the whole world)in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span of his hand. He’s pretty big! He’s mighty and He’s powerful. But wait! There’s an even more amazing part: This infinite almighty God who is without limit, comes and lives inside my heart!  Wow. All I can say to end is this: Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world! 1 John 4:4.

My friends, that is a truth you can hold on and say Amen to. Repeat it until it rings loud and clear in your heart and mind, ‘cause it’s powerful.

He IS great. He lives within you. He loves you from everlasting to everlasting. He will never leave you. That’s not going to change. Ever. And, no. He’s not about to change His mind. His mind is made up. Will you believe?

Thank you Father, that you are unchanging. Thank you for Your Word which is always true and is fixed in heaven. Give us the mind to grasp how everlasting Your promises are, how eternal Your word. Your greatness is so overwhelming! Help us to overcome the lies of the enemy by focusing on the truth of who you are, of all you are in us. From everlasting to everlasting You are God and You change not! Yours is the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen.
