Holding Hands
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’”
Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
“Now you’ve got my feet on the life path, all radiant from the shining of your face. Ever since you took my hand, I’m on the right way.”
Psalm 16:11 MSG
•What does it mean to reach out and take ahold of Gods hands?
•How do we keep holding on to the hand of God?
•What does it mean to run into His arms?
Running into the arms of God is what we do when we run into the Word. When trials hit and when troubles come, if we choose to turn to God and to the Bible for answers, we are running into His arms. It is here, listening to His heartbeat, we gain what is needed. When prayers are answered, blessings are given, when we witness the miraculous, let us turn to Psalms and praise our God. That is us running into His arms and giving Him a hug, saying "Thank You! You are so wonder-full!”
Run into the Word! Run into His arms! He is always faithful to reach out and pick you up. He’s never too busy to hold you, and He’ll keep holding you until the storm passes. Or until you let go. Whichever comes first. He is waiting with open arms to celebrate with you after a victory. He’s waiting to just hold you after a long day. He never gets tired of you,His child, running towards Him. It is His joy to hold you.
What does it mean to reach out and take ahold of His hands? Close your eyes. Now picture your hands and Gods hands coming together and clasping tightly. Keep this image. This is what happens when you reach for a bible verse, be it a psalm or a promise, a prayer or encouragement. Anytime you reach for the Word, you are reaching for His hand. Anytime you meditate on that Word, you are then clasping your hand tightly with His. Anytime you forgo the Word for something or someone else, you are choosing to let go of His hands and clasping on to that of another.
How do you hold on to the hand of God all day long? You take that verse, the one that spoke to you this morning and you take it with you. Write it on a sticky note and place it where you’ll see it throughout the day. Or set a hourly reminder on your phone, read the verse and think on it for a few minutes. This is not only a pursuit of God, it’s also building you up and strengthening your faith muscle.
Reflecting on His word is comparable to the working of a wheel hub. It keeps the wheel attached to the vehicle, it ensures a smooth and continuous movement and it helps to safely negotiate tight turns. Essentially, this small part called a wheel hub is a key component, a crucial one,to a vehicle’s steering system. Likewise, the Word of God is supposed to be your hub and your steering system. Hold on the Word, to Gods hand all day and He will lead and guide you the way you should go. He’ll direct your steps. He’ll provide answers. He’ll make a way where it seems there’s no way. He’ll help you safely negotiate those tight turns.
Did you notice that each one of the above is a choice? It’s a choice to reach for His hand. It’s a choice to run into His arms. It’s a choice to hold on or to let go. Here’s the thing. God is always, let me repeat that, always holding out His hand and reaching for you. Always, at all times, in all situations. But. You are the deciding factor. You have a choice. Will you or will you not run into His arms? What will you do when the storms hit? Will you chose to clasp His hand or will you grasp on to hands that will eventually let you down? The choice is given to you every day, throughout your day.
Just know this: God’s heart is for you. He yearns to hold your hand in His. The closer He can hold you, the better He is able to protect and guide you. How close are you to Him right now? Close enough to be in His shadow? You can know how close you are by how well you hear His voice. Don’t hear His voice? Well, start running. Into the Word. Run into His arms. Clasp your hand with His and refuse to let go. Here is His voice. Here is His heart. Here is where you are in need to be. Right here. Holding hands with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
“For I the LORD your God keep hold of your right hand; [I am the Lord], Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’” Isaiah 41:13 AMP
Lord, fill me with passion to pursue and cling to you. Because I feel your grip on my life, I will seek to keep my soul close to your heart. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. Psalms 63:8 TPT
