Pearls of Great Value

Hope!

 I was reading a verse this morning and was filled with such hope, I had to share. 2020 hasn’t been easy on any of us. At times it has felt as if the darkness is taking over. Bad news like a freight truck just coming at us, rolling over many and taking their voices out of play. Well, I’ve got good news for you. Are you ready? ‘Cause it’s really really good. Here it is: 

“But what I write is also a new command. It is a true one; you can see its truth in Jesus and in yourselves. The darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.”     1 John‬ ‭2:8 ERV

 The Message translation says it like this: “My dear friends, I’m not writing anything new here. This is the oldest commandment in the book, and you’ve known it from day one. It’s always been implicit in the Message you’ve heard. On the other hand, perhaps it is new, freshly minted as it is in both Christ and you—the darkness on its way out and the True Light already blazing!”  ‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:7-8‬ ‭MSG‬‬

 Hallelujah! The darkness? Is on its way out. It might be kicking and screaming right now, but it’s definitely on its way out.  It’s been given a death blow by the light of Jesus Christ. True light IS already shining and blazing! Let us grasp tightly on to this truth and proclaim it. We all need to hear it and be reminded of the hope we have. Christ in you, the hope of glory, has already defeated the darkness. You, my friend, are on the winning side!
